Application Information

Why apply to become a STARS SLC member?

The STARS (Students and Technology in Academia, Research and Service) Alliance Program at Landmark College provides an exciting and rewarding opportunity to explore computing-related fields. The Student Leadership Corps welcomes students with and without computing backgrounds. Whether you’re certain you will pursue a computer-related career or simply interested in finding out more, the STARS Alliance Program could be a great opportunity for you. Here are the program components:

Reach for the Stars Summer Conference

Each year, participants in the STARS SLC attend an academic conference on innovations and careers in technology. You’ll have a chance to meet with peers from other STARS Alliance schools, as well as with faculty, professionals and graduate students. The conference includes an introduction to mentoring, leadership skills, research experiences, professional development and civic engagement. This event is always fun and you’re sure to meet people you otherwise would not have encountered. The program pays all expenses associated with the conference.

Project

Each student in the STARS SLC will work with staff to create a project based on your particular interests. SLC projects can involve research, community outreach, design, or internships.

Mentors

Businesspeople and professionals who are expert at using technology in innovative ways are mentors in the STARS Alliance Program. They will conduct seminars on the Landmark campus, answer career questions, help you prepare for interviews and perhaps even assist with arranging an internship.

Leadership Corps

A monthly seminar series is at the heart of the STARS Alliance program. You’ll learn what’s going on in the world of technology right now and you’ll have a chance to explore trends with industry leaders. Beyond that, you’ll learn how you can become a leader in technology innovation and application.

Application Information

Stipend

Each Landmark College participant will receive a $500 stipend for each semester of participation in the program. This is paid upon successful completion of required program activities.
