Dublin & Galway, Ireland
This 3-week summer course in Ireland begins with two weeks in Galway, the gateway to western Ireland. While in the west, we will visit castles and cottages, cathedrals and monasteries to gain a sense of "traditional" Ireland. The National University of Ireland, where will will stay, is only a fifteen minute walk from Galway City, a small city with a vibrant international energy.
The course will then travel to Dublin, where we will stay at Dublin City University - a modern campus with many amenities. DCU is located just four miles from the city center, and will be our base to study modern Ireland and experience the busy economic, cultural, and social life of Ireland's capital city.
The course, "The Irish Experience," offers students three credits studying Irish culture and society with Landmark faculty. Field trips to important archeological, historical, and cultural sites with Landmark faculty acting as guides will be a major feature of the course.
This program is scheduled so that students have the option of combining it with Travel Writing Through Britain.
