LCIRT and AHEAD (Association On Higher Education And Disability)
New England enthusiastically teamed up this past spring to coordinate
a workshop on E-Text production and dissemination. Dann Berkowitz,
Assistant Director, Boston University Office of Disability Services,
presented this outstanding workshop. Dann is a member of the Access
Technologists Higher Education Network (ATHEN) and is a recognized
expert in providing E-Text solutions within the postsecondary environment.
The two day workshop included an overview of digital text resources
and hands-on experience with techniques and technology for the production
of E-Text, focusing on formatting and production of DAISY Talking
Books. Other resources discussed included digital texts from RFB&D,
Bookshare, and the AMX databases. The workshop was offered to the
AHEAD New England membership and was held on June 6th and June 7th,
2006.
