Faculty Development and Training

The faculty and staff members at the Landmark College Institute for Research and Training are skilled at showing others how their techniques, materials, and programs have proven successful with students for over 20 years. Institute programs promote learning for students with learning disabilities, and for all students who may be under-prepared in the areas of reading, writing, and study skills. Based on the Institute's Courses for Educators offered on our Putney, Vermont campus, these customized trainings can be tailored to the needs and interests of specific organizations. The needs assessment and prioritization of interventions is a valuable and informative process designed to build sustained, in-depth learning for faculty and staff.

Training programs may consist of multiple segments delivered to various audiences according to timelines that best serve the needs of the organization. In order to ensure that training is effectively utilized and sustained, Landmark can incorporate a robust training-of-trainers model. This ensures that a core group of trainers at the organization have learned the information and are prepared to deliver training to additional personnel over time. Participants leave the workshops with new ideas, and the strategies and materials to implement them.

Topics from recent workshops include::
Introduction to Learning Disabilities
Universal Design: Best Practices for All Learners
Using Assistive Technology
Social and Emotional Issues for Students with Learning Disabilities
Integrating Study Skills into Content Classes
Teaching Writing to Students with Learning Disabilities
Managing the Academic Impact of AD/HD
