Christina found that a Kurzweil text reader made a huge difference in her educational career. She describes her experience at Landmark College:
"My experience with Kurzweil has been nothing but great. I am someone who has severe dyslexia, but good oral comprehension. It was hard for me to read things for my college classes without my dyslexia getting in the way. If I had someone read my college texts to me, I could comprehend the texts. Kurzweil did just that and a lot more. It read my class readings to me while letting me read along with it. I could either follow along in my book or look at the computer screen to read along — and know what word was being read because it was highlighted. One of the things that I like most about Kurzweil is that you can stop it from reading whenever you want. You can also start it up from where you stopped it.
Kurzweil is not only something that can read to you. It can help teach you how to read. It does this by letting you see the word while you hear the word. The Kurzweil was such a help to me that I bought a machine like it. (The Kurzweil was just a little too much money for me and was not compatible with my Mac computer.) I would tell anyone that has trouble reading to try the Kurzweil. It's not a way to get around reading; it is something to help you with reading."
