Use of the Landmark College Library by Visitors

The Landmark College Library exists to provide academic support to students, faculty and staff of Landmark College. Alumni are also free to use the resources of the Library with full borrowing privileges.

Visitors using Landmark College Library facilities and resources agree to waive all legal claims against Landmark College and its employees which might arise out of their use of the facilities, grounds, equipment, or other amenities at the College. They further agree that they will not bring legal action against Landmark College for any reason, including any injuries they may sustain or for damage to their property resulting from their use of the facilities, grounds, equipment, or any other amenities at the College.

Visitors should identify themselves and sign in at the Library front desk prior to using the Library.

Use of Materials within the Library by Visitors

Visitors may use the books and periodicals onsite for professional or scholarly research purposes, providing that this use does not conflict with the Library's primary responsibility to the Landmark College community. Use of the research databases may be restricted during busy times. Minors must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian.

Services Not Available to Visitors

Interlibrary-loan borrowing, free photocopying or printing, or use of computers for activities other than searching for Library materials are NOT available to visitors. Please limit your searching to 15 minutes at a time, using only the Library catalog computers located next to the new book displays.

Exception for Visiting Students

Visitors who can show photo-ID proof of current registration in another college or university may use the Library's databases for scholarly purposes. Use may be restricted during busy times of the day or evening. There will be a charge for printing or photocopying.

Visitor Borrowing Privileges

Individuals in the following categories may apply for visitor borrowing privileges:

Landmark College Affiliates: Spouses and legal partners of current Landmark College employees are eligible for visitor borrowing privileges. Children of Landmark College employees may borrow materials in their parent's name if the Landmark employee signs a "Parental Permission Form."

Adult Residents of Windham County: Adult residents (age 18+) of Windham County may, upon presentation of a valid photo ID and proof of address, apply for visitor borrowing privileges. Residents under the age of 18 are not eligible for borrowing privileges unless a parent or legal guardian signs for them. The parent or legal guardian must apply in person with the minor and show a valid photo ID and proof of address.

Visitor Loan Periods

Books may be borrowed for 14 days.

No more than 8 items may be charged out by a visitor at any one time. Of these items, no more than 4 may belong to our Learning Disabilities and AD/HD Research Collection.

Books that have been acquired by the Library in the last six months may not be borrowed by visitors.

Materials Not Available for Circulation to Visitors

The following items do NOT circulate to visitors:

InterLibrary-loan materials, audiovisual materials, periodicals (magazines, journals, and newspapers), reference books, computer manuals, pamphlets, software, or other items not covered by the section "Loan Periods" above.

Renewals

Items may be renewed once, providing use does not interfere with the needs of Landmark College students, faculty, or staff.

Overdue Charges

Overdue charges are $.25 per day. Because our collection is small and heavily used we ask that patrons return materials as soon they are finished with them so others may use them. We reserve the right to recall items before their due date. Visitors accruing overdue fines in excess of $10 or having more than 3 overdue items at any one time will have their borrowing privileges suspended.

Lost/Damaged Items

Visitors are responsible for the materials checked out to them. Landmark College Library materials not returned within a month will be considered lost. Visitors will be billed the replacement cost plus a $10 processing fee for each lost book in addition to the overdue charge. For books and materials no longer in print or available from the publisher the following charges will apply:

  • General collection: $50, plus processing and overdue fees.
  • Learning Disabilities & AD/HD Research collection: $75, plus processing and overdue fees.

Visitors returning damaged items will be billed replacement costs plus a $10 processing fee per item (in addition to the overdue charge, if any). For books and materials no longer in print or unavailable from the publisher the above charges will apply.

Visitors accruing more than one lost or damaged book within a semester will have their borrowing privileges suspended.
